Critics often cite what seem to be contradictions between verses in the Bible. Some are obviously bogus to anyone who has ever opened the Bible and some can be challenging even to a well read Christian. Challenging, but not impossible since EVERY so called Bible contradiction has been answered intelligently.
A claim of contradiction is made when two verses (sometimes not even a whole verse) are compared to each other and appear to be contradictory. But just because they appear to be in conflict doesn't mean they are.
For instance, If you recorded every word a person ever said you may quote them at 8 years old saying "I hate broccoli" and then at 27 saying "I love broccoli". In this case there isn't a contradiction, but a change. People change - and there are a lot of people in the Bible.
Another consideration is that things taken out of context can take on an entirely different meaning. Let's say we write a story about a guy who's never seen a TV set or movie in his life. We start the story off with that fact. Then we say that he watched XYZ movie and in the next sentence we write that he said it was the best movie he'd ever seen. If someone quoted that he said it was the best movie he'd ever seen without the context that informs us it's the ONLY movie he's ever seen, it takes on quite a different meaning.
Another source of so-called contradiction is simply not having all the facts and making a prejudiced and ignorant determination. What if I told you that one night I ran out to the store in the middle of the night for some milk. I left my house at 1:50am and returned home at 1:10am. There's just no way around it, I couldn't have returned home before I left, right? Wrong. Did I forget to mention it was on the night we set the clocks back at 2am?
There are certainly many other reasons that two seemingly contradictory statements are not contradictions at all. These are just a few examples.
People that do not want to believe, for whatever reason, put very little effort into reading and understanding the Bible. They come to an apparent difficulty and say "Ah Ha!" then refuse to go any farther. I could have just as simply opened my algebra book as a freshman and said letters and numbers don't go together so this book is useless. Those that do not want to believe or understand are bound to find as my reasons, no matter how bogus, to hold on to their own false theories.
EVERY so called contradiction in the Bible has been proven wrong.
